We have secured a block of tickets for our next Shakespeare experience, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, playing at the Old Globe on Tuesday, July 30! Because it is scheduled for just as we are returning to school, we will study the play now! Because of this, payment for a ticket reservation is due no later than Friday, May 10.
As always, tickets for our group are only $19! Family members are encouraged to come along (grades 4 and up)! Starting May 13, we will meet together every day to study the play as a literature unit so that we can really enjoy the show.
To our incoming GATE families, this is an opportunity NOT TO MISS! Not only will your students learn Shakespeare, but the evening of the event itself is a truly special night. To our outgoing 6th graders, we really want you all to continue to come EVERY year, so start your alumni attendance with this one!
Please return the slip below with $19 cash for each ticket. Reservations held on a first-come/first-served basis. Space is not held without payment. See you at the Old Globe!
I wanted to give everyone a heads up about the next 12 week session with Mr. Ted and the San Diego After-School Music Academy. The upcoming 12-week session will focus on music theory, vocal training, song writing, computer technology recording and more. Best of all, your kid gets to perform live at the Palmer Way Art Show. The cost of the session is $150. Mr. Ted will allow a payment plan for all families that need it. Three payments of $50, due for March, April and May.
The first practice will be this Tuesday, the 5th of March from 2:35-4:35. Once we know who is getting involved, we will assign your child an official band practice day. As with last session, a big part of the Academy is vocal training, so we do want your child at practice from 2:35 -3:15 on all other days. We will come out with a schedule ASAP. Stop by and see Mr. Crosbie for more details.
Photosynthesis is a process used by plants and other organisms to convert the light energy captured from the sun into chemical energy that can be used to fuel the organism’s activities. Photosynthesis occurs in plants, algae, and many species of bacteria. To put it in simpler terms, photosynthesis is how these organisms eat, they use this process to make their own food. Follow the link below to learn more about the world’s most important chemical reaction. There are games, quizzes and videos to further enhance your learning.
Attention Palmer Way GATE Fall Breakers! There will be no required Fall Break Homework, but we know a lot of students want to KEEP LEARNING, so we will have reading, writing, and math options. Superstar Fall Break Workers will earn a party with Mr. Crosbie and Mr. Clarken!
Reading: Students will complete a reading/response packet on the US Government. This is really important information for our students to know, but it is often not covered fully in the grades it is taught.
Writing: Students will demonstrate their developing mastery of writing a good Response to Literature by independently reading and writing a response to the continuing saga of The Epic of Gilgamesh!
Math: Students will work regularly throughout the break on their IXL Skills mastery.
All work will be previewed and explained in class before break! Remember, the best approach is to do a little work each day in stead of trying to do a lot all at once!
Attention couch surfers! There’s MONEY under those cushions and Palmer Way GATE Academy needs it! The Scholastic Book Fair is around for just THREE more days, and each classroom is in the Help Us Buy Books Change Contest! Bring in your loose change to class for the next three days and win a class set of books for our library!
